Effective Student-Professor Interaction

My experience as an international student in B.Eng. International Civil Engineering has been genuinely positive, the atmosphere is very welcoming and supportive, both from professors and assistants. They are always willing to address concerns during lectures as well as online, through the Olat portal. Moreover, a practical approach is prioritized by incorporating real-life examples and introducing students to relevant software, which I appreciate and believe will be invaluable in our future careers as engineers.

A notable feature of this program is that is provides an opportunity to study some modules in English during the first four semesters (one module per Semester). These modules are on par with the German-taught versions, which creates a consistent learning experience. Also, the program has two intakes annually (summer and winter intake), which allows a lot of flexibility, students can choose modules in both summer and winter semesters, which helped me to plan my studies efficiently. (This is something that is not very commonly found in other civil engineering courses in Germany, as they usually have only winter intakes).

Hochschule Mainz also supports students in making decision regarding the exchange year (the 5th or 6th semesters or 6th and 7the semesters) by hosting lecturers from partner universities. They provide valuable insights and guidance, enabling students to plan the exchange year in advance.

Additionally, our campus at Holzstraße currently has a central location and perfect for students: lively yet safe environment, enhancing our overall college experience.

To sum up, my time at this University and course has been marked by valuable learning experiences, a supportive community, and an environment that is perfect for personal and academic growth. I am grateful for these factors that have made my international study journey so enriching, fulfilling, and enjoyable.
