Die beste Zeit meines Lebens
Erasmus experience
Studying architecture on an Erasmus exchange has been an eye-opening adventure. Being in a different country alone offers a wealth of learning experiences, but diving into architectural studies in a foreign setting takes it to a whole new level.
The design studio being conducted in German posed a significant challenge. Understanding the nuances of the language within the architectural context wasn't easy, yet it pushed me to adapt and work harder to grasp the concepts. Despite the initial struggle, the enthusiasm and dedication of both students and teachers in the studio were incredibly motivating. Their passion for architecture transcended language barriers, inspiring me to push my boundaries and think creatively.
Adapting to a new culture while pursuing my studies has been a learning curve. It's not always smooth sailing, but the lessons learned from immersing myself in a different cultural milieu are invaluable. Weimar itself has been a wellspring of inspiration. The art students and the vibrant atmosphere they create, the tranquil yet thought-provoking surroundings of the park, and the overall ambiance of the city—all have a way of seeping into your architectural perspective.
What stands out the most is how architecture allows you to perceive the world through a different lens. It's not just about designing structures; it's about understanding people, cultures, and how spaces intertwine with our lives. Experiencing architecture in a different cultural context has enriched my understanding of the field in ways I couldn't have imagined. Every day brings new challenges and inspirations, shaping me not just as a student of architecture but as a global citizen with a broader architectural vision.

Wie gut ist deine Hochschule digital aufgestellt?
Navigating the digital landscape of the university as an Erasmus student presented its own set of challenges. Adapting to the university's online platforms like Bison and Moodle was initially overwhelming. The complexity of these systems made it hard to find our footing at first. Despite the initial confusion, after a few weeks, things started falling into place. With perseverance and time, we managed to grasp the workings of Bison and Moodle better. Perhaps clearer explanations or tutorials could have eased the learning curve, but eventually, we found our way around these digital tools. One notable positive aspect was the active involvement of the teachers in utilizing Moodle extensively. They regularly uploaded course materials, assignments, and relevant resources, making it a central hub for academic communication. The commitment to keeping everything up to date greatly enhanced the convenience for students, providing a structured and accessible digital environment.
