If you're thinking of moving to Oldenburg for this course I'd advise you not to for the following reasons:

- You will not, just from what you would learn from doing the full course, learn enough to be able to do anything useful. Everyone I know (me included) who has gotten a job afterwards did so by doing a lot of extra work on his own (so they learned some real skills), or they're older and were already capable. Few do so, most follow-up with the masters.
- A lot of the modules are bad. It's not just that the lecturers can be the terrible, even in the few courses with good ones the material isn't taught properly. Methods are learned instead of intuitive principles. Out of the 25+ modules I did, there was only one where I really tried to make sure I did not miss a lecture (because it was well done and I learned many useful things in every lecture I visited) (the lecturer has since left the university).
- Oldenburg is boring. Most of the young people you'll meet are from the villages and smaller towns around it. This region of Germany seems to be afflicted with a particular kind of anti-passionness that leads you to wondering whether the people around you even have souls.

Some positives:
- The course gives you a lot of freedom in the modules you take, and you will relatively early be able to make significant decisions so as to pursue a field of study you are interested in.
- Despite the poor impression I got from the university overall, they do seem to be competent in some areas. I spent time in the acoustics department, they were decent. I will be forever grateful for the fact I could get a part-time job there and then write a bachelor thesis on something I actually found interesting. I learned a lot (though mostly through self-study combined with having university resources at my disposal).
