Kurzbeschreibung
The 4-semester Master's program "Quantitative Finance" is a full-time program taught in English at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. The focus of the program is to build a solid knowledge base in finance with a special emphasis on understanding mathematical models and developing sufficient methodological competence in computing, modern statistical data analysis and financial mathematics. Students acquire in-depth knowledge and skills in financial economics, microeconomics, mathematics, statistics, and computing. Students also receive extensive training in the "R" programming language. The program focuses in particular on applications in asset management, financial risk management, and modern statistical data analysis.

All students choose one of two tracks in the 2nd year of study:
Specialization Science Track (Required courses: Paper Reading and Writing, Research Seminar I & II: Finance and StatMath, Master Thesis Seminar, and 5 Electives).
Specialization Industry Track (Required courses: Industry Lab, Master Thesis Seminar, and 5 electives).
The application takes place online. The specific selection procedures vary among programs. Applicants are selected based on comprehensive assessment procedures, e.g. interviews, assessment of documents by an expert jury.
WU’s master’s programs start only in the winter semester, please note the relevant application deadlines of the rolling admission.
Various specific requirements apply to each program, these must be demonstrated during the application process, as well as your aptitude for the program. Requirements include amongst others:
- completion of a relevant degree program
- examinations in relevant areas, e.g. Business, Economics, Mathematics, etc.
- proof of aptitude, e.g. GMAT, letter of recommendation, etc.
- excellent proficiency in English
Proof of your graduation is not required until admission, but the requirements have to be documented during the application process.

Die Kombination aus Mathematik, Statistik & Finanzen
Sehr gutes Programm, welches sich mit den mathematischen Hintergründen der Finanzmärkte auseinandersetzt und einem lehrt wie man in dee modernen Welt der Finanzwirtschaft mit statistischer Datenanalyse computergestützt Investitionskonzepte umsetzt.
Programm ist auf Englisch.
Sowohl das Angebot auf dem Campus, als auch digital ist sehr umfangreich.
Hart, aber fair
Das Studium ist nicht leicht und ist mit viel Aufwand verbunden, aber die Inhalte die man mitnimmt sind sehr hilfreich und man erkennt, dass die Erfahrungen nicht nur akademisch einem helfen sondern auch im Arbeitsleben.
Neben Mathematik ist Programmieren sehr wichtig! Außerdem ist es sehr gut, dass das gesamte Studium auf Englisch ist.
Prüfungen waren gemischt, online und offline.

MSc (WU) Quantitative Finance
Perfect, if you want an intensive peogramm to switch from purely financial studies to more computational/mathematically and statistically intensive field. You learn more than IT person or Data Science does. You can understand and write complex models/programms, you really do a lot of coding ( of course if you are participating in group activities).
