Informatik course gist by an International student
I started studying Master in Computer science in the summer semester 2022 at Universität Paderborn and I would like to share my experience so far with the course.
My course is basically designed for two years containing 8 modules, 2 seminar, a project group and finally my master thesis.
What I liked most about my course is that in this 8 modules I can choose whatever I want to study and there is no compulsion for me to choose certain courses which gave me a broad prospect to understand my priority and choose courses according to my liking from different field of study in computer science such as Algorithm designs, Networking and Communication, Software engineering, Data science, Security and many more.
Coming from a different education system it was indeed a very challenging phase as everything seemed to be new but on the other hand it was quite better than my previous experiences.
The courses were designed very accurately and the lectures were too detailed although there were times when I didn't understand some of the concepts because of lack of basics but professors were kind enough to provide the content relevant to the courses to everyone who wants a recap.
We also have tutorials in each module which helps in application of what we have learnt in our courses which was very useful to gain practical knowledge of the study which were also considered as assignments and are compulsory to do to pass the Studentleistung(course achievements) to appear for the exams.
As Universität Paderborn is a technical university, it has more goals towards research which I found to be also a main part of my study.
The seminars are mostly related to research study about particular topic in different field of computer science which I mentioned before for the modules.
The project group was an amazing experience till now from other courses as it had a bit of everything i.e research, application, working in a team and making something meaningful.
I am still in between my studies and have few courses to complete and my master thesis but I am very happy with my course and it is one of the best experience.

- No compulsory modules, Project group (meaningful experience), lectures and tutorials
- Research orientated courses and seminar, need to clear student assignments in courses to give exams which can take lot of time managing a lot of modules simuntaenously
Wie gut ist deine Hochschule digital aufgestellt?
As per digitalisation I would say Uni Paderborn has amazing platforms such as Paul (for registering modules and exams and also referring everything about your courses and achievements), Panda (where we can collaborate with yout professor giving us course contents and assignments)
