A Department That Cares — Yet Still Could Improve

We are a relatively big department—you meet all kinds of people, all kinds of tutors, students, professors . . . It feels a bit like a family and I get a sense of belonging here. Most of my professors have made sure that we feel satisfied with our studies. I can also tell they work hard to bring us interesting material. We have so much literature to choose from, it is quite fun when we are given the good stuff!

My one complaint will always be how difficult it is to get a spot in the seminars, the tutorials and lectures. Because we are a bit department, there is high demand. I hear from seniors of mine who have ended up waiting semester after semester to finally get a place in a compulsory seminar and it sounds a little frustrating. Unfortunately, I think it is also a consequence of ALMA and the fact we get so little guidance when signing up for our courses.

All in all, there’s space for improvement, but I definitely love my studies!
