Mischung aus Biologie und Physik

Der Masterstudiengang "Physics of Life" ist eine gute Mischung zwischen Physik und Biologie (und etwas Nanotechnologie, wenn man möchte). Die Veranstaltungen mit Physikbezug decken zum Beispiel die Bereiche der Statistischen Physik, Polymerphysik, Hydrodynamik und Pattern Formation ab und haben dabei meistens einen Bezug zur Biologie. Andererseits gibt es Vorlesungen, die ein Verständnis für die Molekularbiologie und Biologie von Zellen und Geweben vermitteln. Ich persönlich fand diese Mischung sehr interessant. Wenn man sich auf diesen interdisziplinären Studiengang einlässt, muss man sich bewusst sein, dass man eben nicht ausschließlich nur physikalische oder nur biologische Themen lernt.
Da der Masterstudiengang eng an das Exzellenzcluster "Physics of Life" und das CMCB gebunden ist, haben wir viel Kontakt mit den Gruppenleitern und der aktuellen Forschung an den Instituten.
Außerdem wird der Studiengang in Englisch gelehrt und auch das ganze Umfeld ist sehr international.

The master's program "Physics of Life" is a good mix between physics and biology (and some nanotechnology if you like). The physics related courses cover for example the areas of statistical physics, polymer physics, hydrodynamics and pattern formation and are mostly related to biology. On the other hand, there are lectures that provide an understanding of molecular biology and biology of cells and tissues. I personally found this mixture very interesting. When you enter this interdisciplinary program, you have to be aware that you will not only learn about physics or only about biology.
Since the Master's program is closely linked to the Cluster of Excellence "Physics of Life" and the CMCB, we have a lot of contact with the group leaders and the current research at the institutes.
Also, the program is taught in English and the whole environment is very international.
