Overall very happy
Interesting Master with exciting people
Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship and Sustainability (IMES) (M.Sc.)
A very interesting Master, which brings together a very international group of students (only about 30% German) with different interests and backgrounds. However, there is an attempt to teach knowledge in too many different subfields at the same time. Unfortunately, the curriculum is quite rigid and so every student has to take a certain number of credits in the 3 sub-areas of innovation management, sustainability and entrepreneurship, in addition to the compulsory modules. Due to this study regulation as well as the very limited places in the electives, one cannot necessarily focus on one's desired sub-area. One rather learns many things a little bit, but not really in depth, similar to a classic business administration bachelor.
Some compulsory subjects also teach very old-fashioned ways of thinking and business content that are of little relevance to the majority of students.
Many students take advantage of only one Erasmus semester and a single degree at the TU Berlin instead of a double degree program, which speaks for the flexibility regarding the second year curriculum. The double degree programs themselves differ greatly from each other, especially in terms of thematic focus and academic demands in the second year.
Overall, I am slightly disappointed as I don't feel much better prepared for founding a startup than I did before the master's.
However, some modules were highly exciting, challenging and fostered critical thinking. The community is very enriching and brings together a lot of cultures. Hence, I'd recommend this program to everyone who is interested in the range of topics covered by the curriculum and is looking to gain international experience.

- Interesting electives, charismatic faculty members, close international community, double degree partnerships, many guest lectures, integrated and connected to the Berlin start-up ecosystem
- Too rigid curriculum, some outdated compulsory subjects and old-fashioned lecturers, absolutely chaotic digital organization
Wie reagiert deine Hochschule auf die Corona-Krise?
My first semester was entirely online and the others hybrid. Unfortunately, the implementation of online lectures was mixed - many lecturers did not make enough effort to create a productive, interactive atmosphere, while others implemented a very good and motivating concept. Some guest lectures were also held digitally. However, there were unfortunately far fewer opportunities for networking and getting to know each other.
