Currently not worth the price, but has potential
International Foundation - Computer Science (Hochschulzertifikat)
In it's current state I cannot recomend the International Foundation - Computer Science course. This academic year should (by definition) prepare us for the main courses in Computer Science / Software Engineering, and yet we are only provided with 4 hours of coding lectures. We also spend about 8 hours per week attending lectures that barely have anything to do with computer science. I feel like as of right now, the course is not worth paying over 9 000 Euro. However, the saving grace of this course and of the university in general are the lecturers and staff. The lecturers have genuine experience in their fields and are often passionate about what they teach. Everybody, including the staff in university offices (responsible for student services, management, etc.) are easy-going, easy to get in contact with (face-to-face meetings included), and dedicated to improving the university. Due to this, I see a lot of potential for this organization and expect things to get better in the near future.
- University staff and lecturers are eager to make improvements to the course
- Course content is not directed appropriately at computer science / software engineering.
Wie gut ist deine Hochschule digital aufgestellt?
The university is relatively well-prepared for digital studying. It's strongest attribute is the digital library, which has a plethora of peer-reviewed documents, books, reports, etc. The classes can also be attended online, and the resources covered in class are available on our Moodle website. However, there is a problem with in class notes. Whenever the lecturer writes anything on the white board, the only way for online students to see it is through a poor quality webcam camera, which often proves to be a problem.
