Actually I'd like to recommend this major at TU Dresden. I am bascially satisfied with my study at TU Dresden. However, as a foreign student, I cannot deny that there are many unfriendly people and probably racists in this city:
- Discrimination always happens in supermarkets. Some cashiers smile at and greet local people but they only have cold face and almost no words for foreign customers. There are more discriminations in "Neustadt". Some strange people always stare at me angrily as if I had made a terrible mistake!.
- Discriminations also happen at the university, although most of students are very friendly. I met unfriendly students at the very beginning of my study. I still remember that at the Christmas party for students, two german students laughed at me and teased me without any reasons. In university sport classes, german students tend to play with german students and I have to sit at the corner alone for the most of time.
- There exist also discriminations in student dormitory. When I was living in Wundt 11, many german students always had parties with extremely loud music, even though exams were close to us. When I tried to communicate with them, they always showed an unfriendly and unpatient attitude. Only after I threated to call the police would they turn down the music. What's even worse, in my last semester, one local roommate always slammed the door to arouse very lound noise deliberately aimed at my room since his room was exactly above mine in this duplex apartment. I was always waked at night because of this kind of noise. I was afraid of his aggressive actions and I was always thinking that one day I would completely collapse. I couldn't identify whether I had already psychological problems caused by his actions. I still have nightmares at the moment even though I moved out of this apartment three months ago.
- I have always heard that some german students blame foreign students for gathering in their own groups without communications with local students. But the truth is that we also want to have german friends but they do not want this! The reason is not that we cannot communicate due to the language, but that they just do not want to make friends with us. This happens very often in Dresden. I also found it very difficult but luckily I have several good friends and I really appreciated these three years that I spent together with them.

Anyway, if you are from non-eu countries and you decide to study in Dresden, I suggest that you should be ready to accept everything of Dresden. It is a very beatuiful city with splendid sceneries and a variety of colorful activities; many lectures at the university are also very interesting and you can really learn knowledge. However, you may also have uncomfortable experience with some local people. If you decide on Dresden, I hope that you can meet more friendly people and have memerable experience. :)
