Not impressive

In first year, the course content is mostly very basic (only high school level) and, in the few courses where it's harder, there has been insufficient support - or not the support the module description says we are supposed to get. 80% of the lecturers' English is not good enough to understand oral questions and parts of written and oral assignments have been marked wrong when it was due to their misunderstanding from lack of English skills. Most professors are not lecturing - which would mean checking we are engaged - but talking to themselves. Administration is shockingly disorganised and under resourced.

On the positives, the student body is very cohesive and there are usually things to do on campus. Sports are cheap and there are plenty of them. The library is pleasant to study in and there are enough of the textbooks that I haven't had to buy any. Mensa is cheap, even if they do make really odd food at times (e.g. a big quiche with plain pasta and a pineapple curry sauce - I couldn't tell!). So I guess the money aspects are really good, but at the same time, don't expect to get a job in Cottbus unless you have really good German and are lucky.
