The MA program in Philosophy & Economics is one of Germany’s leading programs for graduate level P&E education. The two-year international study course provides intensive, high-quality and rigorous education in core areas of economics and analytic philosophy.
Vollzeitstudium
The two-year international program is jointly organized and taught by the Departments of Philosophy and Economics. After having gained solid advancement in Micro-, Macro-, and Empirical Economics as well as Ethics, Political Philosophy, and Philosophy of the Social Sciences, the program allows you to specialize according to your individual interests and aptitude.
We welcome applications from graduates with a background in philosophy & economics, philosophy or economics, or a related discipline with an economics component, otherwise the willingness to participate in economic introductory courses, with a good Bachelor grade point and command of written and spoken English.

To meaningfully address societal challenges, more than one perspective is needed. The Master’s program is grounded in Philosophy and Economics, designed to train students for academic and policy-oriented careers addressing questions of markets, institutions, inequality and economic policy from quantitative and normative perspectives.
The research-led teaching concerns questions of social and economic justice, the concept of wellbeing, and the normative foundations of practical and scientific reasoning. The program spans the following areas:

Gute Entscheidung!
P&E im Master war für mich die richtige Wahl, denn das Studium gibt die Möglichkeit einen Großteil der Kurse selbst zu wählen. Man kann stark in Richtung Economics gehen, oder in Richtung Philosophy und hat immer von dem jeweils anderen noch eine stabile Basis an Kursen. Natürlich geht auch generell ein ausgewogener Mix. Creative freedom with comforting guidance
I am about to finish my degree and I am happy about my experience with this program. As much as it was challenging at the beginning, I learned tremendous amounts of information from interdisciplinary modules, sharpened my critical thinking and argumentation skills, and met amazing people with whom we share a passion of exploring questions that interests/bothers us. Awesome experience, learned a whole lot
I had a great experience at Uni Bayreuth in general and in the P&E in particular. I really enjoyed the philosophy courses, Ethics and Philosophy of the Social Sciences were particularly illuminating and enriching. Advanced Macro I and II were also really good, as well as some of the electives.
