The Master in Global Management (MGM) is designed for those who want to build an international career that spans industries and borders.
Whether you have a clear direction or are still exploring your interests, the program equips you with general management expertise and the skills to think across functions, tackle challenges from multiple perspectives, and apply solutions in global business contexts.

The Master in Global Management (MGM) is a full-time, two-year program (120 ECTS) starting each September. This page outlines the program structure, course timeline, and key experiences that prepare you for international careers in strategy, consulting, finance, tech, and beyond.
You will gain a solid grounding in management, strategy, and economics, all while customizing your learning through electives, certificates, internships, and international opportunities.
The MGM curriculum is structured around five components:
- Core courses focus on management theory and practice, with an emphasis on leading in a global business environment.
- Electives allow you to explore specialized topics and industry applications, offered in terms four and five.
- Skills seminars build your competencies in communication, negotiation, and intercultural collaboration.
- Practice modules including an internship and a Social Impact Project help put your learning into action.
- Career support is provided throughout, with coaching, employer events, and job search guidance from the Career Development Center.
- A previous degree (at least Bachelor's equivalent) with excellent grades. If you are completing your undergraduate studies within the next year, your application will also be considered.
- Recently graduated, with no more than 24 months of postgraduate work experience (excluding internships)
- English language proficiency test scores (if applicable)
- Submitting an English proficiency test score (TOEFL, IELTS or TOEIC) is not mandatory. Your English language skills are also assessed in the selection interview.
- You will receive a waiver for the English proficiency test if English is your native language or if you have completed a university degree completely taught in English.
- If required, ESMT expects a minimum score of 100 in the TOEFL, 7.0 in the IELTS, or 850 in the TOEIC. The ESMT TOEFL institution code is 8707.
- Evidence of quantitative skills - depending on your profile, you may be required to take the BAT or GMAT/GRE test)
- GMAT or GRE scores are not obligatory if candidates can provide alternative evidence of quantitative skills or scientific training within their Bachelor studies through competitive grades, that included general quantitative courses or with a degree in engineering, natural sciences, mathematics, statistics, or another quantitative field (including economics or business with mainly theoretical/quantitative coursework).
- As a guideline, GMAT scores below 600 or GRE scores below 304 are not considered competitive. Depending on educational background and the grades, the review of scores can focus more on the quantitative section of the respective test.
- Candidates may also take the ESMT Business Admissions Test (BAT) or receive a waiver for the tests if their academic transcripts or related qualifications demonstrate sufficient quantitative skills.
- A globally focused curriculum covering all relevant general management disciplines from strategy to finance, taught through interactive, and practice-oriented teaching methodologies.
- Customizable learning paths with 50% elective flexibility, cross-program course options, and optional certificates – including a Finance & Investment Certificate, and access to Bloomberg’s Certificate Courses.
- Built-in opportunities for hands-on experience, including 3 to 6-month internships, social impact projects, and applied consulting projects.
- Skill-building electives that can enrich and broaden your business knowledge and network, including clinics in negotiation and communication, and a Corporate Impact Lab taught by top-level corporate leaders, directors, and senior partners.
- International exposure through study abroad at 20+ partner schools, the Global Impact Program with University of Virginia, and a double degree option with Yale SOM.
- Top-ranked faculty trained at leading institutions worldwide, who teach executive education and advise global companies, bringing real-world experience into the classroom.

Einmaliger business school master
Ich bin ein großer Fan der ESMT. Man wird als Student tatsächlich bei allen Belangen ernst genommen und eingeladen Feedback zu geben. Der Studiengang hat einmalige Möglichkeiten ein Netzwerk aufzubauen und bietet Weiterbildungamöglichkeigen durch zahlreiche Events, Clubs oder Tagungen an.
Nahezu perfekt
Ich studieren nun seit einem Jahr an der ESMT. Bisher eine tolle Zeit. Die Klassengröße von ca 120 Studierenden gibt gute Möglichkeiten, sich mit anderen auszutauschen / zu netzwerken. Professoren / Dozenten sind sehr kompetent und engagiert. Studieninhalte sind ebenfalls gut, allerdings wäre mehr Auswahl bei den technischen Fächern angebracht (nicht umsonst steht ESMT für European School of Management & Technology).
It is the best experience so far
It is one of the best universities for management sciences. The curriculum, diversity and the career services at the university are the most important factors that make this university what it is. Addtionally, the companies that hire from here are also all very reputed and popular.
