A program that preps you for managing the future!
Global Technology and Innovation Management & Entrepreneurship (M.Sc.)
If you have a passion for innovation or technology management or you always wanted to become an entrepreneur no matter whether in a corporate context or in a startup, this program offers you a great opportunity to broaden your knowledge and experience in the right way.
The program is suitable for almost every kind of previous study program. However, a basic business understanding is always helpful. Our student group is very diverse in terms of nationalities, academic as well as professional backgrounds. This makes group discussions really interesting and fruitful since you do not only learn from the theoretical lecture content but also from the experience of your fellow students.
Lectures include several different learning methods e.g., case studies, business simulations (which I highly appreciated and recommend), group work and projects as well as flipped classroom sessions. In general, there is a high amount of group assignments included in the program, which has positive and negative aspects. On the one hand, you probably have some extra work during the semester in order to coordinate team meetings, etc., on the other hand, you better get to know your fellow students, can work independently as well as more creatively and strengthen your interpersonal teamwork skills.
The program is based on a full-time study program, which means >40h/week should be dedicated to lectures, group work, seminars, etc. However, if you are motivated and highly engaged a working student position <20h/week next to the study program is possible and done by myself as well as some of my fellow students.
The GTIME coordination team is highly cooperative and supportive. You can reach out to them in case of any concerns or issues and they are always happy to help. Additionally, they are also always open to improvement suggestions or general feedback. Especially, in terms of additional events, the students are getting involved in the planning process and can suggest their own event ideas e.g., workshops with corporates, extracurricular courses about a specific topic, or Q&A sessions with innovation hubs.
Another specialty of the program is, that you will spend the second year at one of the partner universities. Currently, you can choose between Denmark, Scotland, Japan, Lithuania, or India. Based on your personal preferences, this decision has to be made approximately at the end of the first semester. Each partner has different focus areas which you can also check out at the GTIME website.
A negative aspect might be the tuition fees, which are higher than usual semester fees at TUHH. However, comparable programs at other German universities cost even more.
A success factor of this program is your and your fellow student's personal motivation and contribution. If you get actively involved in the lectures and additional offerings you can benefit most from it for sure.

Wie reagiert deine Hochschule auf die Corona-Krise?
Currently, all lectures are conducted via Zoom. There is a great mixture of pure lecture parts, group work in breakout sessions, and group discussions. Exam assignments are mainly switched to "take-home" exams or group works/presentations with a greater focus on knowledge transfer than knowledge retrieval.
