The course has multiple lectures which are combined with workshops or tutorials that gives student and extensive hands on experience along with a deep dive into the complexities of the subject.
Being a research institute, there are several opportunities to get involved and choose very interesting topics for master arbeit.

Since the courses demand high participation, it is more suited for in person attendance but the university does offer some courses online.
But I personally wouldn't recommend it, it's a highly demanding and intensive study so being present is highly recommended.
But in terms of documents and registration, everything can be done online. And it is quite easy to reach the professors through mail or the respective subject forums. The replies are relatively quick.
