Quite good but you won't become an engineer

It covers a lot of subjects in different areas including molecular and cellular biology, maths, chemistry (not so good fundamental lectures and escalating in difficulty later on), even bussiness, management and basic in law. But I have to say the last three could have been useful if the lectureres weren't so bad. This was really the biggest weakness of the program.

In the end you get to learn bits and pieces from everything and end up an expert in none.

Some professors were extremely good and I will remember their lectures forever. Especially the engineering and biotechnology ones. But keep in mind with the few engineering lectures we had, you can't really pursue a master in any engineering or maybe it's very hard to do that.

The program lacks in bioinformatics although it covers pretty much everything else. Some more emphasis on programming languages (MATLAB, R and maybe Python) would be a very huge advantage as most science areas need it more and more.

You have to work very hard to get good grades in all subjects! Some exams are easy multiple choice (with questions covered in the lecture) others are quite hard. For some exams just memorizing all the slides would be enough to get you a 1.0. For others you have to solve problems and read whole chapter books.

Places in the library and Mensa will be a problem to find, but you will find all the textbooks necessary there.

For biotechnology that is working with bioreactors, fermentations I think it's very suitable. One can also change fields to management or quality control. The program prepairs good specialists if you yourself put an effort into it.

Finding accomodation might be a huge problem at the beginning. Trying to get at the dorms will take a while but they are very good and worth the wait.

Kleve as a town is nice to live in as a student. Be ready to meet people from all over the world, but germans will be hard to reach sometimes. Support from the uni is becoming better every year and there is a very nice student community. Everyone interacts, shares their complaints which lead to improvements and also innovative ideas to improve our student lives. Recommend to go for it. If you can compromise with the few weaknesses, you can make the best of it and it can be a very good experience. This uni will compete with top unis in Germany in the future!

Ah yes one more thing! Some people say it's easy to get into HSRW but hard to leave it. It will be hard to finish this program in 7 semesters. And nobody as far as I know has done it. So 8 semesters might be the realistic time.
