I chose the program MBA Aviation and Tourism Management (MBA ATM) to advance my professional career within the airline industry. The course offers general business management topics as well as specialized subjects related to aviation and tourism which make the program both unique and fascinating, especially for aviation enthusiasts.

The program schedule is ideal for working professionals. Because the classroom sessions are scheduled in “blocks,” it is easier to plan ahead (up to the next 2 years) when to take days off from work or when to go on vacation.

In contrast to other MBA programs that require in-person attendance during weekends or at more frequent intervals, the predictability of the MBA ATM course makes it also possible for students living outside of Frankfurt or even abroad to join the program.

The study periods in between the classroom sessions were usually filled with group work and individual research assignments which require a high degree of self-organization, discipline, and determination to be successful in managing tasks independently.

The classroom sessions were held at the HOLM, close to Frankfurt Airport. The infrastructure was still rather limited at the Gateway Gardens during our time. This was further aggravated by the COVID-19 crisis resulting to many shops and restaurants being closed around the area. Online classes were organized when classroom sessions were not possible due to health risks.

For me, the major advantages of this course are the study trips and networking opportunities that we gained throughout the program. Not only did we learn from lecturers who are a mix of industry experts and respected members of the academe, but our student cohort were also composed of professionals from various industries, companies, and different areas of the aviation and tourism sectors.

The fireside chats, alumni events, meetings with associations like BARIG (Board of Airline Representatives in Germany), plus the study trips to Singapore and Brussels (visits to the European Parliament, European Commission, Eurocontrol, Entry Point North) were truly amazing experiences!

I highly recommend this course to anyone with a passion for aviation or to someone who is looking for an MBA program that fits alongside even a full-time job.
