Finding a new 'home away from home' takes time and a fair amount of preparation. Once you've made an application to Catalyst, you'll gain access to student groups where the community also posts about rooms on their radar or available spots in their own WG (shared apartment). Start as soon as possible and aim for a long term solution.

Our riverside campus at Funkhaus is part of the historic building that was once home to the GDR’s broadcasting station and was one of the world’s largest multi-studio complexes during the Soviet era.

Our industry-standard facilities are built with one thing in mind: maximising ‘hands-on’ access to doing what you love. Think of it as your very own technological playground.

Here’s a quick summary of the highlights:

• 31 recording and production studios, including five vintage music studios
• Five computer labs, each one with 16 Mac workstations
• Electronic music performance space with stage and spatial sound

We don't have an upper age limit, but you must be aged 18 or turn 18 by 31 December in the same year you would start your studies at Catalyst. If you would still be 17 at the start of the course, we'll need a consent form from either a parent or legal guardian, which we'll request after we offer you a place.

For entry to our undergraduate courses, you must have graduated from high school at a level which would normally permit entry to university in the country where it was gained (e.g. A-Levels in the UK or the Abitur in Germany). We do not require specific subjects or academic streams. If you're in your final year of studies, you can still apply. Instead of your final diploma, you can send us a transcript of either your most recent or predicted grades.

For entry to our postgraduate courses, you must hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with an Honours grade (e.g. 2:1 in the UK university system), or be in the final year of studies for one.

All our courses are taught in English and applicants must demonstrate a level equal to IELTS 6. We do not ask for official exam results, but we will assess the standard of English in your application and support materials. We do not require German language skills.
